EARLY ELEMENTARY PROGRAM

Designed for students in kindergarten through 2nd grade, these classes continue to foster a love for dance through a themed curriculum. Placement is determined by age in our developmentally-guided curriculum, which focuses to an appropriate degree at each level on:

    • Movement – development of gross motor skills and coordination
    • Music – listening, rhythm
    • Imagination
    • Expression

Levels include: Ballet Basics A (5 and 6 year olds), and Ballet Basics B (6 and 7 year olds)

In the Elementary Program, the foundation is laid within the framework of classical ballet to prepare students for the next level, the classical ballet technique program.

CLASSICAL BALLET TECHNIQUE PROGRAM

This program includes levels Ballet I through Ballet V. Here the students learn, develop and refine classical ballet technique. The Ballet I-through-Ballet V classes encompass students from third grade through high-school/pre-professional level. Experience and ability are the determining factors in class placement from this point forward in our sequential curriculum.

The serious study of ballet involves repetition and refinement. The curriculum introduces new technical elements even as it emphasizes the necessary repetition to strengthen and perfect fundamental technical skills necessary for advancement and accomplishment.

Additionally, the program provides exposure to the history of ballet, the study of French vocabulary, familiarity with ballet classics, and the development of performance skills and expression through traditional classical and original contemporary choreography.

Pointe is introduced when a student reaches a physical readiness and technical proficiency, and only if the student demonstrates seriousness towards advanced study of ballet. Readiness is not determined by age or years of study, but by evaluation of the individual student by the teaching staff.

The Still Pointe Studios presents three concerts per season:

  • Our Winter Concert is performed in December or January and is a classical ballet program designed to feature and challenge our mid- to highest level students. Winter Concerts have included Cinderella, Snow White, The Land of the Sweets - Act II of the Nutcracker, Peter and the Wolf, and Aurora's Wedding (Act III of The Sleeping Beauty).
  • Each year Still Pointe presents the Young Choreographers Concert in studio. Still Pointe is committed to helping each student develop his/her creative abilities. Join us as we watch our advanced dancers present their own choreography.
  • Each May we enjoy bringing all the levels in our school together in a themed Spring Concert that uses contemporary Christian music as well as other styles of music in a worshipful production.
